Privacy policy

Time.ms is designed to show you the exact current time with a millisecond readout. This policy explains what data we process, how it is used, and the safeguards we apply to protect your privacy.

Information we process

We process the data needed to provide time synchronization and location information and to handle the feedback you submit.

IP address and network metadata: Time.ms and its infrastructure providers may process your IP address and network metadata, including the autonomous system number (ASN) and approximate country, region, city and time-zone context. Time.ms uses this context to calculate UTC offsets and display location information. IP-derived locations may be inaccurate. We do not create an additional long-term database of the raw response, although infrastructure providers may retain security and operational logs under their own retention settings.

Round-trip time measurements help select low-delay samples and show network conditions. The results appear in your browser and are not stored with personal identifiers.

Voluntary geolocation: If you click the “Location (Device)” control, the browser may request precise coordinates. Time.ms does not receive or store those coordinates. If you then click “Load interactive map,” the coordinates are sent to Google Maps to render the optional map embed.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregated usage patterns. Google Analytics may process device and browser information, approximate geography, and interaction events under Google’s policies. We use the resulting reports solely to improve reliability, performance, and user experience.

You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout or by using built-in tracking protection in your browser.

Use of cookies

Time.ms does not set separate tracking cookies of its own. Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies on time.ms in accordance with Google’s policies; these cookies are used for aggregated analytics only.

Data retention

Operational logs produced by our infrastructure providers expire according to their applicable retention settings. Outside this feedback email handling, we do not create additional long-term logs or databases containing personal data. Analytics reports are stored in aggregated form without precise location data. Feedback emails, including submitted fields and automatically attached diagnostics, are retained only as needed to review messages, reply, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot problems and delivery.

Third-party services

Time.ms uses infrastructure providers, including Cloudflare, Vercel and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, to serve content and provide time data. Requests are subject to the applicable provider’s privacy policies. When you load the optional Google Maps embed after enabling device location, Google receives the map coordinates plus device and browser metadata in accordance with its terms.

Only when Turnstile is enabled does the visitor’s browser connect directly to Cloudflare’s verification service, which processes ordinary request metadata and device and browser security signals to issue a verification token. The Time.ms feedback service sends that verification token and the visitor’s IP address to Cloudflare Siteverify to prevent abuse.

When you submit feedback, Cloudflare Email Routing delivers your topic and message, any optional name, age range, email address and related page you provide, and your reply preference to Time.ms by email. The email automatically includes your IP address, approximate location, and request, device, browser, network and page-loading diagnostics when available, to help troubleshoot problems. We do not automatically collect your browsing history. Cookies, authorization headers and verification tokens are excluded from the email. The email also includes server-generated delivery identifiers.

Only when explicitly enabled for a production build, Sentry processes browser error reports containing the original error message, stack trace, affected page path, browser and operating-system details, and limited recent navigation paths to diagnose client-side failures. Time.ms does not attach user identity fields, cookies or authorization data, and does not send web-request bodies, web-address query parameters or fragments, console output, DOM interaction details or network-request breadcrumbs. It does not use Sentry Tracing, Logs or Session Replay.

Your choices

You can use the site without granting device geolocation permission; approximate location and time-zone information inferred from your IP address will still be available.

You may block analytics scripts with browser settings or extensions.

You may request deletion of any identifiable data that could reside in our operational logs (subject to confirmation) by contacting us.

Feedback drafts

As you type, we save the topic, message, name, age range, reply preference, email and related page locally in this browser. Unsubmitted drafts are not sent to us. Seven days after the last edit, calculated using this device’s date and time, a draft is no longer restored and is deleted the next time you visit. Verification tokens and diagnostic data are not saved in drafts. A draft is removed after successful submission or when you choose Clear draft. Anyone using the same browser profile may see it. Drafts do not sync across devices; clearing site data or ending a private browsing session may remove them.
